In light of the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus affecting the entire world, the Swan of the Natur and the Turkish Yacht Club met yesterday to define the next steps for the European Regatta of Swans, scheduled for July 7-13.
Turku represents the home of the enthusiastic swan owners of the same area and hosted three previous swans of previous swans – in 2006 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Turko Yacht Club, in 2012 and again in 2016 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Nautor Swan, with more than 100 yachts at the event this year and 31 have already been registered, with a heavy heart, Nautor and Turko have jointly decided to postpone the event to the summer of 2021.
“It was not an easy decision to make, but right now we feel it is the right thing to do,” says Giovanni Fumetti, CEO of Nautor Holdings. We were looking forward to it. “Unfortunately, given the current and uncertain situation in the world, the general mood and our goal not to endanger the health and safety of our guests, they led us to this important decision.”
“The state of the Korunaavi virus in Finland is still under control, I hope it will not change in the near future” says Smoly Salantra, Commodore of the Turkish Yacht Club. “Turko has always been the swan house in the Baltics and we feel the need to host this event in the best condition ever, and this is not the right time. We will surely celebrate our swan spirit properly next year.”
